We went to our 1st Boarding Schools Expo in Narrabri with our minds just about made-up which School we were going to send our child to. We left later that day with our preconceptions blown away. Not only have we changed our minds, but Schools we hadn’t even considered before are now on the top of our list.
Our visit also opened our eyes to what a God-send the Expo is for regional families who can’t afford the time or expense going to each School’s Open Day at all different times of the year and locations varying from 3 to 7 hours away. Attending the Expo was the best few hours we have spent in a long time. Thanks!

What a great source of information. We registered our details 5 years ago and like most people who collect your details they do nothing with them. We have been delighted at receiving a constant email, which I must say is full of very useful information and congratulations must go to the team who not only put it to gather but keep us informed regularly.
Keep up the sensational work it’s good to know we are not just a number. Once again many thanks and keep the info coming!!!!

I attended the expo in Albury and ended up taking my husband back on the Saturday so he could see the standard of schools at the expo. It really was the top Melbourne schools – fantastic work! Each school I spoke to was wiling to spend as much time as I needed talking about their school and providing information. I spoke to the headmaster of Scotch College for nearly an hour!
Many schools followed up after the expo with a phone-call or a mail-out of information I had requested. We had a fire alarm towards the end of the Saturday but the organisers were so helpful – while we were waiting to go back inside they asked what school I wanted to talk to next and then introduced me to someone from that school.
I will definitely be going to the next expo in Albury and maybe Wagga and have already recommended it to a number of friends.
A poem by Monica Andren:
Dad needed some convincing to drive a 100 K’s down the way,
To visit several boarding schools where I would like to stay.
Every school was amazing, offering opportunities galore,
I even discovered several ‘new’ ones, and all they had in store.
The ladies were very welcoming, full of information and advice,
The goodie bags were a highlight (I must confess) and the nick nacks very nice!!!
After visiting the Expo at the Crossing, I’ve made my short list of 3,
I really loved St Catherine’s, Wenona and also Sydney P.L.C.
Dad is now converted about boarding in the city,
To miss a great education, he reckons, would really be a pity.
After several hours of browsing Dad was completely shattered,
We both had the best afternoon together, and in the end, that’s all that really mattered.

For anyone considering boarding school for their child, I can’t recommend the Boarding School expo enough. I attended the Expo in Dubbo earlier this year. The organisers need to be commended on the weekend, it was exceptionally run and very enthusiastic staff on hand to help. It was fantastic to have so many schools represented, to be able to talk one on one to the representative’s was invaluable. Well done to all!
Sarah Edmonds:
The 2 hour drive to Dubbo expo was well worth it. We are now considering schools we had never looked at before. All the schools we spoke to we really friendly and helpful. For such a huge decision both financially and emotionally, I really recommend visiting the expo for families who are considering sending their kids to boarding school.
Sharne Dutton:
Boarding Expos are a fantastic opportunity to find the right school for your child all under one roof. All the schools are very approachable and committed to country families. Expos gives you the opportunity to narrow your choice down to a couple of schools and visit them.
The Isolated Childrens’ Parent’s Association (ICPA) also compliments the schools in giving unbias information on boarding from parents who have been there and done that, also information on allowances that you can understand that you might be able to receive from Centrelink.
I would highly recommend Boarding Expos to anyone that is looking for a school for their child.

We recently went to the Boarding School Expo in Wagga Wagga. We are sending our daughter to boarding school in 2014 and we found it comforting to be able to talk to everyone. This personal contact helps take the fear factor away for future students moving from the comfort of a country town to the big city. Thank you to Dianna at St Scholasticas Sydney for allowing our daughter to have a sleep over at the boarding college recently. She has already met girls who she will be with when she gets to year 9 and is getting really excited about the next chapter in her life.
Cass Webster:
What a great experience! So many helpful friendly people that made our first journey down the boarding school road so much easier. We were spoilt for choice of great schools, how do people decide?! The only complaint of the day came from my 5 year old who wanted to know how come Hogwarts wasn’t there?! 😉
Tracy Stephens:
We attended the Expo at Dubbo, and right from entering the door we were welcomed in, asked if we had any preference to schools, given a map of where the schools were located, easy as one two three! The vibe was great! The floor plan was easy as well, as I was on crutches. Every question was answered and some that we hadn’t thought of! Highly recommended! 🙂
Todd Symons:
Boarding school expo is the way to go,
there are so many excellent schools on show.
So well organised, with friendly people too,
it was such a worthwhile thing to do.
So next time it comes along to town,
do yourself a favour and come on down.
You won’t be disappointed, it’s a great thing to see.
The Boarding School expo is the place for me!
Abbey Orcher:
I got to see and here about some great schools and am actually in Sydney tonight all the way from Dubbo for my interview with St Scolastica in Glebe and if all goes well I will commence there next year!!!
The expo was a great opportunity for kids and families from the country to here about and meet schools that you would normally never get the opportunity to see first hand. My mum and I met with several schools at the Dubbo expo but we were very impressed with St Scholastica and the amount of Aboriginal girls that get to attend the school and are given the opportunity to have a home away from home. Thanks for the great opportunity. 🙂
