What boarding school did you go to?
Aspinall House, The Scots College, Sydney
What was your best experience at Boarding School?
Being with my mates all the time, having the rugby field in my back yard, and also having supervised prep time made sure that I did my work on top of all my training.
What is your favourite memory from Boarding School?
Favourite moment would have to be competing as a house in all the school carnivals – athletics days, gala day etc. With the boarding houses being alot smaller in terms of numbers compared to the day boys, the house bonds together no matter what year you’re in and you all competed as one to get the best result!
What are you doing now?
I am currently living in Perth, Western Australia, playing Super Rugby for the Emirates Western Force. I am also Enrolled at ACPE college (Homebush Sydney) studying Bachelor of Sports Business. Doing this by correspondence at the moment.
Has anything you learnt at boarding school helped you with your current career?
Living away from home would be the obvious one at present but it also teaches you independence, self motivation, time management, tolerance towards others, and team skills.
Any advice for young kids going to boarding school?
I think as a young kid boarding school can be daunting at times but most of the boys in the house would have been in your position at some point. Don’t be afraid to ask questions and talk to them. Also embrace the opportunity to board because not everyone can do it and it is something you will look back on and be thankful for everything it taught you.
