Enriching Opportunities in a Close-knit Environment
Since 1901 Ravenswood has embraced a strong tradition of educational excellence, developing young women of purpose who are empowered and inspired by the highest quality of teaching and learning experiences.
A Uniting Church School located on leafy grounds, Ravenswood is the only school on the Upper North Shore to offer students a choice between the Higher School Certificate and the International Baccalaureate Diploma.
In 2022 and 2023, a total of six students accomplished a perfect ATAR of 99.95 - one HSC student and five IB students. These perfect scores place our IB students in the top 1 per cent in the world.
In 2023, one of our boarders, Yige (Grace), achieved a fantastic ATAR of 99.70.
Ravenswood is a multi-award winning Positive Education and Wellbeing School - the first school in New South Wales to be selected to implement a Visible Wellbeing approach to Positive Education, under the guidance of Professor Lea Waters from the University of Melbourne. Positive Education offers a range of evidence-based approaches that promote wellbeing and resilience within an educational setting, not only helping develop character but promoting learning and achievement.
'The lessons that we have at the school and those we were taught in the Residential College, mean that we were always conscious that the way we speak and act impacts others. It is a much more positive school culture than I have ever experienced before,’ says Alumni and former Ravenswood Boarding Captain Lily Dunn.
The Ravenswood Residential College was refurbished in 2017 and is a modern, stylish, and comfortable home-away-from-home for our community of 50 boarders from Years 7-12. The culture is warm and nurturing, with small numbers ensuring strong relationships and a close family atmosphere.
Weekends are filled with fun trips to Sydney’s entertainment and cultural attractions, alongside study and sporting commitments. Co-curricular activities include Cadets, which is offered through the Knox Grammar School Cadet Unit and allows girls to develop practical skills and leadership qualities alongside their male peers. Other activities conducted in conjunction with Knox Grammar School include the week-long business skills course, ‘Be the Change Agent’ and regular curriculum excursions and overseas immersion trips to Cambodia, Fiji and Kokoda.
Ravenswood received Excellence Awards for Boarding School of the Year, School Principal of the Year (2024) and School Principal of the Year 2022, 2024 (Non-Government) and Best Student Wellbeing Program at the 2022 Australian Education Awards. Ravenswood also featured on The Educator 5-Star Innovative Schools Award for the fourth time (2018, 2019, 2020, 2022 and 2023).
