A day and boarding school for girls.
PLC Sydney is a school for girls with boarding from Year 7, offering a broad curriculum to students from a diverse range of backgrounds. Founded in 1888, the College is set within 4.4 hectares of landscaped grounds and retains its nineteenth century heritage buildings and gardens. PLC Sydney aims to educate young women from the basis of a Christian world view to make a difference in a rapidly changing global society.
PLC Sydney’s state-of-the-art facilities are equal to the best offered by any Australian school. They include an Aquatic Institute, a gymnasium, Performing Arts Complex, Research Centre, Art, Design and Technology Studios and a Centre for Public Speaking.
PLC Sydney takes a holistic approach to delivering excellence in education and is recognised for its outstanding music, drama and sporting results, having one of the most extensive ranges of co-curricular programs available with over 50 activities offered to the Senior School, including visual arts, public speaking, debating, environmental studies, numerous musical ensembles and orchestras, and sports such as tennis, swimming, rowing, diving and gymnastics. There are activities for those who like to talk, be active, perform, compete, play music, think and theorise, experiment, understand other cultures and those who want to change the world - there is something for everyone. Our service learning and international exchange programs are some of the largest in Australia.
Our Service Learning and International Exchange Programs are some of the largest in Australia. The College's Service Learning program offers students an opportunity to really make a difference in a variety of communities – local, national and international. The program fosters leadership, creativity, and problem solving and builds strong connections between students and the communities they support.
International exchange is an annual Year 10 program offering reciprocal placements in our partner schools across the world, including China, Japan, France, Italy, Vietnam, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Scotland, England, The Netherlands and South Africa.
PLC Sydney is proud of its academic reputation. In 2023, over 77% of PLC Sydney students ranked in top 20% of the State (ATARs over 80) and over 47.5% of our students were in the top 10% of the State (ATARs over 90) with 9 students in the top 1% of the State, receiving ATARs over 99. Our highest ATAR was 99.95 achieved by 2 students, with 10 students named in the All-rounder Achievers List (i.e. scored over 90% in every subject) and another 6 students gained places in the Top Achievers in Course List (placing in the top 20 students in the State in their different subjects). Our school mean, was 43.39 out of 50 (i.e. an average HSC mark of 86.7% was achieved across all courses. Approximately 95% of PLC Sydney’s Year 12 students go on to University.
As our boarding house is smaller than many other girls’ schools, the students and staff are a close-knit group and very supportive of each other. We are committed to providing all boarders with a positive and enriching experience. At PLC Sydney we aim to produce young women of integrity and purpose, who not only achieve outstanding academic results but also are well-rounded, engaged and confident young women.
