Mount Erin Boarding (MEBS): A Legacy of Excellence

Mount Erin Boarding was founded in 1890 as Mount Erin Boarding School by the Presentation Sisters. MEBS is the residence for students who would like to attend either Kildare Catholic College or  Mater Dei Catholic College in Wagga Wagga, New South Wales but live 2 to 3 hours away. MEBS is a co-educational, weekday boarding facility for secondary students (Years 7 – 12) located on the same campus as Kildare. Mater Dei is a 15-minute bus ride from MEBS.

For transport to and from home each weekend, two boarders’ bus runs travel via Adelong to Tumut, and Darlington Point to Griffith. This service allows students from these areas to continue their Catholic education through Year 12. There is also transport available on normal school buses to the following areas: Lockhart, Galore, The Rock, Gundagai, Junee, Tarcutta, Coolamon, etc. Boarding students can avoid lengthy daily bus trips, and enjoy the benefits of a Catholic education in a safe and caring environment without sacrificing their family life at home.

While priority is given to students from rural areas, in particular those who do not have an opportunity for Catholic education, consideration is also given to students whose day includes a lengthy bus journey. Students of other faiths can be accepted as boarders. Such students will be expected to attend religious education classes and participate in the spiritual life of the College and Boarding. Short-term and Flexi Boarding is also available.

With a strong emphasis on pastoral care, the team at Mount Erin does all that is possible to make the students’ time a happy and positive experience. There are two Houses - Nagle House for girls, and Rice House for boys each with a House Coordinator and Boarding Staff dedicated to providing a safe and positive environment.
