Frensham – Boarding School for Girls
Boarding at Frensham provides a truly unique opportunity to educate and grow the whole person. As a boarding school we provide an environment that allows for the development of character, not just academic growth. Frensham is a small school (approximately 360 students in total) however it has the highest number of boarders (over 70% are boarders) of any boarding school in NSW. We offer a 24/7 tailored boarding program and a highly personalised learning experience – for us it is truly a privilege to be able to provide such a breadth of opportunities and home away from home for our boarders.
Boarding at Frensham operates in such a way that each girl is known to us, and we develop strong and meaningful relationships with our families and their daughters. The friendships that are made in boarding are second to none - lifelong friendships are formed through living and learning in residence and our girls are inspired and supported to work together to embrace and overcome challenges and to celebrate each other’s achievements. Our unique set of core values ensures that Frensham girls are taught to value kindness, resilience, empathy and compassion and to carry these attributes with them for life.
At Frensham, students enjoy the best of both worlds: a spectacular living environment combined with a broad and rigorous approach to learning. Our passionate and dedicated staff work as a highly professional team, taking the time to consider and support each girl’s individual learning, growth, and development as independent and empowered individuals.
Along with sport and other activities on weekends, boarders have fixed study times, evening workshops, academic coaching and dedicated time for music practice. Teachers are on campus throughout the week for support and guidance, and students are encouraged to work independently and to manage their time responsibly.
Through Frensham's Jamieson Program students are actively engaged in physical, intellectual and emotional challenges to develop global citizenship and environmental and community responsibility. Frensham is fully involved in the Sydney-based Independent Girls' Schools (IGSA) sporting and cultural fixtures. With expansive and state-of-the-art sporting, performance and arts facilities, we host IGSA competitions on-site each weekend as well as at a variety of other times throughout the year. Equestrian and Snowsports teams compete at state and national levels and are coordinated by the School.
When looking for the right school for their child, parents should consider the values of a School, what their boarding program offers – are they a school with boarding or a true boarding school that understands the needs of girls and families who are in residence for the full term. Touring a school and meeting the staff and girls is an essential step – you’ll know when you go!
