boarding@clarendon: creating futures
Ballarat Clarendon College is a co-educational day and boarding school for students from ELC to Year 12. Clarendon has three campuses:
- Sturt Street – Year 5-12
- Mair Street – ELC-Year 4
- Yuulong – Year 9 residential program
.
With a community of approximately 150 boarders from years 7 to 12, our professional and dedicated team provide personalised support and compassion in a homely environment. The boarding students’ hometowns range from regional Victoria, New South Wales and South Australia with a small number of international students.
We consider our boarding houses to be the vital, beating heart of the school. The boarding experience is positive, vibrant and fun. Our boarders and their families are a passionate and loyal community with many forming long-lasting friendships for years after they have finished school.
Our Heads of Boarding and the wider pastoral care, teaching, operational and health centre staff work hard to provide a comfortable environment that prioritises the students’ wellbeing while encouraging them to immerse themselves in the vast array of opportunities, activities and resources available.
In 2023, Ballarat Clarendon College was named Victoria’s top VCE performer for the second year running, the third time in five years. The knowledge-rich curriculum developed on research-based practice, combined with over 55 co-curricular activities offered, provides students with the opportunities to pursue their ambitions and desires, whether it be on the stage, sporting fields, in the studio and within their community.
The eight-week Yuulong program undertaken throughout year nine remains a crucial component of the Clarendon experience providing opportunities for students to make decisions about who they are, how they engage with others and choices about how they contribute to their community. From post-bushfire clean ups to rubbish collection along the coastline, students drive change through participating in local community initiatives.
Specifically, within our boarding house, a calendar of events takes place throughout the year which provides a great deal of positivity and fun and further develops the sense of camaraderie between the boys and girls boarding houses. The parents’ weekend with student concert is a highlight.
Please visit our website for FAQs and a virtual tour of the boarding houses.
