You would be hard pressed to find a person (particularly a country person) who has not heard of The King’s School. It is the oldest boys boarding school in Australia with a history of almost 200 years in educating young country men.
[Perhaps I should declare here that we are (were… until the next gen’) a King’s family. A bit of this intro on behalf of King’s will come from my heart. It is really hard for it not to, but good for you to know that these Takeover Thursday’s are sponsored by the schools that choose to take them up.]
Have you ever driven through the gates at King’s ? For a farmer’s wife from a western NSW town of about 800, to approach the gates with their very own set of traffic lights on Pennant Hills Road was to have a very real sense that you were about to become part of Australia’s cultural history.
And culture, with ceremony and recognition is something that The King’s School does very well. Whether that’s sporting celebrations, religious practices, the arts or cadet parades… culture, along with boarding, is at the very core of The King’s School.
Some of Australia’s oldest buildings (and some of our most modern day educational facilities) are nestled within 350 acres just up the road from Parramatta in Sydney. The size of King’s allows for adventure, indeeds encourages the very character that ‘breeds’ adventure.
Just as with all of our boarding schools, The King’s School has a plethora of opportunities to offer our boarders.
Enjoy this Takeover Thursday with The King’s School.
Boarding is at the heart of The King’s School.
For close to 200 years boarding has led the charge…
Boarding is at the heart of The King’s School. For boarders, the School is their second home. It is a place where they live, learn and grow alongside their mates and are supported by a highly qualified team of boarding professionals.
The King’s School has been fortunate to receive generous philanthropic donations, enabling the establishment of our Scholarships and Bursaries program. These awards have been made possible by the ongoing support of our alumni, current and former parents and the broader community. Many of these awards are specifically for boys who wish to board at the School.
For nearly two centuries, The King’s School has equipped students with the tools they require to be leaders of service through the School’s unique educational approach, which focuses on Academic Excellence with Character Development in a Christian Community.

Building Communities Away from the Places We Call Home
In 2022 Ben Chadwick, Director of Boarding at King’s, joined our panel to discuss the importance of connection and friendships made during your years at boarding school.
We thought we’d include this in today’s Takeover Thursday.
Thank you to The King’s School, NSW for showing us around their school. As always, enjoy the resources on our website helping you and your family make decisions about boarding school & supporting you once you’re there.
