Inspiring Young Women
Genazzano FCJ College – A Catholic Day & Boarding School for Prep to Year 12 Students
Genazzano FCJ College is a Catholic day and boarding school located on Cotham Road, Kew. It is proud of its 126 year history, its past and present students, and importantly, its community. Together as educators, parents and friends, we work to create a learning environment which is permeated by the richness and traditions of our faith and the Ignatian heritage of the Sisters, Faithful Companions of Jesus.
The College community is vibrant and energetic, and seeks to positively influence all aspects of a student’s development. At Genazzano, learning and wellbeing go hand in hand.
Ours is a College where intellectual pursuits flourish in a climate of excellence and enquiry. Our core values include a passion for life, a love of learning, and the courage and confidence to lead and serve others.
These values encourage our students from ELC to VCE to approach life with optimism, to be creative learners looking for ways to contribute to society and to be actively engaged with issues of social justice.
Like your child’s imagination, learning should have no bounds. Our co-educational Early Learning Centre instils in its young students the joy of learning and discovery.
Our girls-only Boarding and Day environment, from Prep to Year 12, enables each student to take intellectual risks and focus on achieving personal bests across a wide range of subjects and pursuits, including quality religious education, diverse co-curricular activities and social justice programs.
Further, our College’s exceptional facilities are surrounded by beautiful park-like gardens, which collectively work to immerse students in a unique and inspiring learning environment.
The College is renowned for providing a wide variety of opportunities. Academically, musically and recreationally, Genazzano offers students a rounded education that prepares them to become resilient, adaptable and confident women.
A Genazzano education encourages students to view the world critically, to be discerning in their decision-making and, most importantly, to view learning as a life long journey limited only by the restrictions we impose upon ourselves.
Boarding at Genazzano FCJ College
Hopetoun Hall is a happy and nurturing home that encourages the growth of faith, independence and social responsibility for students from various social and geographic backgrounds. Located only three kilometres from the College via a quick tram ride, Hopetoun Hall is a modern 40-bed facility providing a secure, comfortable, caring and supportive Catholic environment for students from Years 9 – 12. The off-campus location provides boarders with a sense of ‘going home’ at the end of each school day.
It’s managed by a resident Director of Boarding, who is assisted by a team of dedicated and experienced staff. Boarding staff appreciate and encourage open and regular communication between boarders’ parents and are aware that it is vital in ensuring quality care for all boarders.
Year 12 students are accommodated in individual purpose-built rooms serviced by a communal kitchen. Students in Years 9 to 11 enjoy spacious, centrally heated shared facilities. All rooms have internet access. Girls enjoy socialising and relaxing in the common rooms. Boarders are well represented with the College community as prefects, house captains, performers, members of sporting teams and as recipients of academic honours. Transition activities are organised early in the school year to welcome new students and strengthen the bonds for all boarders.
When girls leave Hopetoun Hall they take with them skills and friendships which will assist them in taking on life’s challenges.
