Farrer Memorial Agricultural High School

Farrer – committed to producing thinking, well-educated, skilled, flexible and caring young men.

Since its inception in 1939, Farrer Memorial Agricultural High School in Tamworth, has earned an enviable reputation as the sole public day and boarding agricultural selective high school for boys in Australia.

Farrer is one of a handful of public Yr 7-12 selective schools in the State, with entrance into the school in Yr 7 gained through the NSW selective schools test.

Set on 191 hectares of prime agricultural land 10 kilometres from Tamworth, Farrer also purchased a 340ha farm, “Brewongle” at Loomberah, from retained earnings, as a base for its Angus breeding stud.

Farrer is committed to producing thinking, well-educated, skilled, flexible and caring young men, capable of confident and effective participation in society.

The provision of a safe and caring environment for our 600 students, in both the boarding and day sections of the school, is of paramount importance. The staff are dedicated to ensuring that life at Farrer is a happy and rewarding experience, making students feel ‘at home’ in their new environment. A strong welfare team is always available to give support and encouragement to the boys.

The ethos of Farrer revolves around students always giving their best in the wide variety of academic, sporting and cultural opportunities provided for them, with the emphasis on loyalty, respect, trust and responsibility being the basis for the many long lasting friendships and memories that are forged upon joining the Farrer family.
